Lawyer Alice Guo Claims POGO Queen is Still in the Philippines

STEPHEN DAVID – The lawyer for Alice Guo is confident that the dismissed mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, remains in the Philippines.

David’s assurance stems from a recent conversation he had with Guo, during which she confirmed her presence in the country. He emphasized his trust in her statement, citing their communication last Sunday as the basis for his confidence. David explained that Guo had sworn under oath to a lawyer that she is still in the Philippines, and any deviation from this would pose significant problems for the notary who certified her affidavit.

“I am confident that she is in the Philippines because I have no reason not to believe her. We are talking. I wanted to know where she is and her assurance is that she is in the Philippines. That is where my confidence is coming from,” Guo’s lawyer said. “She just swore under oath before a lawyer, stating that she is still in the Philippines. If she is no longer here, then that would be a big problem for the one who certified it,” he added.

David revealed that the notarized affidavit, submitted to the Department of Justice last week, was done in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, though he is unfamiliar with the notary involved. He warned that if the affidavit was notarized without Guo’s personal appearance before the notary, the latter could face sanctions. David also expressed trust in the immigration authorities, believing they would have information on whether Guo had left the country.

In response to Sen. Risa Hontiveros’ claims, David promised to follow up with Guo for clarification. He indicated that Guo is contemplating surrendering and appearing before the Senate. Additionally, David mentioned that Guo is still considering a run for office in 2025. The ongoing efforts to contest her disqualification are part of a broader strategy to enable her participation in future elections.
