Businessman Offers Supervisor Position to Waiter Who Was Made to Stand for 2 Hours

SUPERVISORY POST – The waiter who was made to stand for two hours by an LGBT customer at a restaurant was offered a supervisor position by a businessman.

A waiter in Cebu City went viral after being forced to stand in front of an LGBTQIA+ customer, writer Jude Bacalso, whom he had called “sir.” The incident, which lasted almost two hours, was seen by several people who noted that other employees couldn’t step in, possibly because Bacalso was close to their boss.

After the incident, the waiter received a lot of support from people online, who thought he wouldn’t stay at the restaurant whether he was fired or not. Many business owners offered him jobs. One of them, Joel Torres, offered the waiter a supervisory job at his barbershop or a position at his travel agency.

Torres admired the waiter’s calm and respectful behavior, saying, “Mag start na among renovation sa Master’s Barbershop.. E refer to nako si waiter sa Ullies kay murag gipotbol na daw, ako paworkon sa Barbershops or sa South Shore Travel and Tours… Choose lang asa ka nahan mo work dong!”

As of now, the waiter hasn’t been identified, but the support and job offers from the community show the public’s solidarity with him.

Meanwhile, Jude Bacalso has issued an apology regarding the incident. He shared that he met with the restaurant management, crew, and supervisor to resolve the disagreement. However, the waiter was not present. Bacalso emphasized that the management supported their employees and, according to him, the waiter chose to stand voluntarily.

He also extended his apologies to the staff and customers affected by the incident, expressing a desire for reconciliation and learning from the situation. “My apologies also to the rest of the staff who are disheartened by the way things have escalated, as well as to the customers present at that time,” he noted.
