Rico started as a commercial model in 1995. He was a student of the De La Salle University then when a talent manager discovered him. His captivating smile always charms many people and many individuals close to him can attest how kind he is as a person.
In a few time, Rico Yan achieved the leading man status with his brilliance in acting. His loveteam with Claudine Barretto has hooked countless fans and supporters. They were also real-life lovers but they broke up prior to his death last March 29, 2002.
During a vacation at Dos Palmas Resort in Palawan, Rico was found dead by his best friend and fellow actor, Dominic Ochoa. He was 27 years old at the time of his death in 2002 and the cause of his death was cardiac arrest due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis.
The burial of Rico was one of the celebrity funerals that gathered countless people and left many hearts broken and grieving. Recently, more than two (2) decades since he passed away, Rico Yan trended online after several netizens visited his tomb.

In a text conversation with ABS-CBN reporter’s MJ Felipe, Rico Yan’s brother Bobby Yan confirmed that the reports about the trending visits on the tomb of the late actor has reached their family. According to the late actor’s elder brother, the caretaker of his brother’s grave also confirmed it.
Bobby said that their family cannot release a statement as of now as the caretaker assured them that those who visited Rico’s tomb were respectful as they have nothing to worry about. According to Rico Yan’s brother, they will only make a move once the visitors on the tomb of the late actor is causing disturbance or damages.
Furthermore, based on the report, Bobby Yan affirmed that the massive visits on the grave of his younger brother no longer surprise them as it is already happening since before. Rico Yan’s brother said that they welcome those who want to visit the tomb of the late actor. He also stressed that his brother is a former youth ambassador so he sees nothing wrong if young individuals visit his tomb.
