Ogie Diaz Expresses Frustration at Jude Bacalso
OGIE DIAZ – The entertainment columnist and talent manager took to social media to slam Jude Bacalso, an LGBT writer.
Bacalso, a member of the LGBT community, has been making waves online following an incident involving him and a waiter at a restaurant in Cebu. He faced significant criticism after making the waiter stand for two hours because he was called “sir.”
Among those commenting on the issue is Ogie Diaz. In his post, he expressed frustration with Bacalso’s treatment of the waiter.
Diaz suggests that if Jude identifies as female, he should provide proof, such as a birth certificate, to substantiate this identity. He criticizes Jude for expecting everyone to immediately adjust to his gender identity change without a gradual process, arguing that such a change should be accompanied by patience and understanding.
Diaz also accuses Jude of entitlement and a lack of sensitivity toward others, especially the waiter who had already apologized. He advises Jude to forgive the waiter and not make a big issue out of the situation, emphasizing that Jude has the ability to resolve it. He concludes by cautioning Jude against behavior that could negatively reflect on himself and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Meanwhile, Jude Bacalso has issued an apology. According to him, he met with the restaurant’s management, a crew member, and the supervisor to address the issue, but the waiter was not present. They agreed to implement more inclusive practices at the restaurant. Bacalso admitted he could have been more considerate in his advocacy and apologized to those present. He also sought to apologize directly to the waiter and chose to make his apology public due to the incident’s widespread attention. Bacalso clarified that he did not demand the waiter stand for the entire time; the waiter chose to stand while awaiting management’s input.
