BONGBONG MARCOS – The President was asked about Vice Pres. Sara Duterte refusing to rejoin his Cabinet after resigning as the secretary of the Department of Education.

For several months now, there are questions and speculations on the real ties between the Duterte and the Marcos families. Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has thrown tirades against Pres. Marcos. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has resigned from the cabinet of the President.

It was only a few weeks ago when Vice Pres. Sara Duterte resigned from her post as the DepEd secretary. She also resigned from being the vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

According to Vice Pres. Duterte, her decision to leave her post as the chief of the Department of Education stems from her compassion for the students and the teachers. She also previously expressed that she will not attend the second State of the Nation Address or SONA of Pres. Marcos.

The Vice President claimed that she appointed herself as the “designated survivor” — a term used in referrence to a political practice that the two (2) highest government leaders in the country should not be in the same place with the other leaders in the nation.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte officially turned-over the DepEd secretary position to Sen. Sonny Angara. She passed on the seal and the flag of the education department to him. Aside from her, several high-ranking officials of the education department also resigned and they are the following:

  • Undersecretary Michael Poa
  • Undersecretary for Administration Nolasco Mempin
  • Assistant Secretary Sunshine Fajarda
  • Assistant Secretary for Procurement Reynold Munsayac
  • Assistant Secretary for Administration Noel Baluyan

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte explained that her decision to leave the Cabinet of Pres. Bongbong Marcos is a long story and needs a sit-down. According to her, it involves both personal and work reasons and First Lady Liza Marcos had nothing to do with her decision.

Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was asked by the media about Vice Pres. Sara Duterte refusing to rejoin his Cabinet. The President who is in the midst of the preparation for his second SONA has a short answer.

“Ah, okay. That’s her position,” Marcos said.

According to the President, his speech for SONA is finished and is only being fine-tuned. They are set to polish everything tomorrow and on Sunday so it will be ready for the State of the Nation Address on Monday.
