Viy Cortez Called a ‘Clout Chaser’, Apologizes to BINI Gwen

Netizens call Viy Cortez a “clout chaser” over her message to BINI Gwen

VIY CORTEZ – The social media influencer faced a deluge of criticism after she posted a message from one of the BINI members, Gwen Apuli, almost a year after it was sent.

On her Facebook account, the social media personality shared a screenshot of the message from BINI about her son Kidlat. It appears that Gwen follows Viy and is very entertained by the eldest child of Team Payaman leader Cong TV. “Wahhhh ily kidlat! [emojis],” Gwen’s message read.

Viy posted this on her social media account with the caption, “ily din bini_gwen [emojis] sorry at now ko lang ito nakita [emojis].” This quickly drew criticism from netizens and BINI supporters, known as Blooms.

Some said that Viy only noticed Gwen’s message now because she has only recently become famous. The social media personality has since deleted the screenshot she posted and apologized to those who saw it.

“Sorry guys kung now ko lang po ito nakita. Wala ako intensyon na di mamansin. Sadyang nung finollow ko po sila saka ko lang po nakita ang mga message [emoji]. Ganon po sa IG (Instagram) di mo makikita agad ang nag-message,” Viy explained. She added, “Guys di po talaga ako natingin sa IG na messagr nung finolloe ko po sila lahat nakita ko ito.”

Many Team Payaman fans defended Viy, saying that her post wasn’t just for clout because she is genuinely a fan of BINI and its other members. As of now, BINI Gwen has not issued any statement regarding the issue.

Meanwhile, BINI is a Filipino girl group formed by ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy. The group consists of several young women who were trained in singing, dancing, and performance to become well-rounded artists. BINI is part of the larger “P-Pop” (Pinoy Pop) movement in the Philippines, which aims to create a distinct Filipino pop music genre that can compete on the global stage.

The group’s name, BINI, is derived from the Filipino word “binibini,” which means young lady, reflecting their youth and vibrancy. BINI debuted in 2020 and quickly gained popularity for their catchy songs, impressive choreography, and strong vocal performances.
