LET Passer Reveals She Still Reviews for Board Exams While Mourning Grandmother’s Death
A LET passer goes viral online and earns admiration online for reviewing while mourning the death of her grandmother.
Recently, Mariel Gatdula Esteron, a Facebook user, shared the story behind her success in passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). The post quickly circulated online and garnered various reactions from netizens.
The LET Teachers Board Examinations were held on March 17, 2024, and announced on May 24, 2024.
Esteron’s journey to becoming a licensed professional teacher was faced with a problem following the death of her grandmother, Nanay Edith, who had been like a parent to her. Juggling her review sessions with her grieving process proved to be an overwhelming challenge.
The aspiring teacher faced numerous difficulties during her review period, which began in October 2024. The weight of her grief made the already demanding process even more challenging.
Mariel’s grief overshadowed her studies, making concentration nearly impossible. Her mind was clouded, and her heart was heavy. She gained a lot of weight from stress-eating and sleepless nights.
The LET taker remembered her grandmother’s care when she would wake her up and feed her, knowing she was hungry. The absence of her grandmother’s comforting presence made her pain even more acute.
The young woman felt her grandma’s presence guiding her throughout the process despite the heartache of knowing her grandmother would not witness her new achievement.
The newly-licensed teacher also dedicated her success to her parents and other important people in her life. She thanked God for the blessings she received throughout her journey, from her studies to passing the LET.
Currently, Esteron is looking for a school where she can start her teaching career. She graduated with a Bachelor of Elementary Education from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Bataan.
