Dogs Abandoned Outside Motel in Manila Rescued

Dogs outside a motel in Manila have been rescued

MANILA – A concerned netizen is appealing for help, especially from animal welfare advocates, regarding 13 abandoned dogs at a motel in Sta. Mesa.

Earlier, a concerned netizen named Marie Lourdes Mendoza Garcia appealed for help, especially from animal welfare advocates, regarding 13 abandoned dogs at a motel in Sta. Mesa, Manila. In her Facebook post, she shared a video of the pitiful dogs seeking shelter outside the motel amid heavy rainfall.

According to Garcia, the canines were left behind by their previous caretakers after the neighboring house was demolished. She expressed concern that the dogs might be taken by the dog pound. “Please help these 13 abandoned dogs in Sta. Mesa beside Gardenia Drive-In Motels,” she stated in her post.

In the latest update from Garcia, she shared that the canines have been rescued. She noted that a total of 14 canines were brought to a shelter. However, she did not disclose from which shelter the dogs were brought.

Based on the comment of another netizen, the canines will be brought to a shelter in Montalban, Rodriguez, Rizal. Some thanked Garcia for her initiative to help the dogs. “Salamat din sayo Mam kung hindi ka nagbigay ng concern at panahon mo di yan maisasakatuparan,” one netizen said. Others are hoping that the dogs will be treated well at the animal shelter and won’t be in danger.

Meanwhile, an animal shelter is a facility that provides temporary care and housing for homeless, abandoned, lost, or surrendered animals, primarily cats and canines. These shelters aim to ensure the well-being of these animals by providing food, medical care, and a safe environment. They work to find permanent homes for the animals through adoption programs. In addition to housing and rehoming animals, many shelters also offer other services such as spaying and neutering, vaccinations, and educational resources to promote responsible pet ownership.
