‘Foul Behavior’ of Guards at QC Pride Show Upset Denise Julia
DENISE JULIA – The R&B singer expressed dismay over what she called ‘foul behavior’ of the guards at the QC Pride show. She shared on social media her frustration after experiencing challenges at her first Pride show, which was ultimately postponed due to bad weather.
Unfortunately, anticipated production numbers by personalities like Vice Ganda, Gloc-9, Ben&Ben, and BINI were canceled as the weather worsened during the event. In her social media post, Denise Julia voiced her sentiments: “We spent countless days preparing for my first ever Pride show. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. The discontinuation of the show was very necessary for everyone’s safety!”
However, despite thorough preparation and dedication from her team, issues within the organization and what she referred to as “disrespectful” treatment from event security reportedly marred the event. The artist also recounted an incident experienced by her team, where, according to her Instagram account, “THESE GUARDS AT THE EVENT CALLED MY DANCERS AND MY SOUND ENGINEER LIARS AND LAUGHED AT THEIR FACE. MOCKED THEM HABANG TATLONG ORAS SILANG NAGMAMAKAAWA SA INYO PARA PAPASUKIN. HINDI NIYO PINAPAPASOK HALOS MAHIMATAY NA SILA.”
The B.A.D. singer expressed frustration that despite their diligent preparation, including extensive rehearsals with a large group of dancers and collaboration with new pride designers, they were unable to showcase their efforts on stage.
Plans for surprise performances from her friends Dom and Awra, as well as a meticulously prepared dance break, were also affected. Denise Julia emphasized the dedication of her staff to perfecting her performance. Her post received an outpouring of support and encouragement from netizens, praising her determination in the face of challenges.
On the other hand, Denise Julia stated her commitment to continue her musical journey and advocacy for inclusivity and acceptance. Known for her popular R&B tracks like NVMD, B.A.D, Lackin’, and Sugar and Spice, Denise Julia was scheduled to perform at the “Love Laban 2 Everyone” Pride event at Quezon City Memorial Circle on Saturday, June 22.
