ANGELA BOFILL – The renowned American singer-songwriter passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in Vallejo, California, at the age of 70. The announcement was made on her Facebook page and was also used by People Magazine in their article.

The announcement read: “On behalf of my dear friend Angie, I am saddened to announce her passing on the morning of June 13th. The funeral will be held at St. Dominic’s Church in Vallejo, CA, on June 28th at 1:00 pm.”

In a subsequent announcement, her manager confirmed that the news of her death was true and not a hoax. The message stated: “Just to clear up the confusion. On behalf of Shauna Bofill, husband Chris Portuguese, we are saddened but must report that the passing of Angela yesterday is indeed true. We thank Melba Moore and Maysa for their early condolences. Thanks for your many posts. Rich Engel, friend and manager.”

Fans of Angela Bofill were deeply saddened by the news. Angela began recording music in her youth, with her first studio album titled “Angie” released in 1978. She went on to release numerous albums and songs throughout her career. Some of her most famous songs include “Break It To Me Gently,” “This Time I’ll Be Sweeter,” “You Should Know By Now,” “Tonight I Give In,” “Angel of the Night,” “I’m on Your Side,” “Let Me Be the One,” and “I Just Wanna Stop.”

Angela Bofill was well-known to Filipinos, having first performed in Manila in 1983 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). A TV special featuring her concert aired on GMA-7. She returned to the Philippines for another concert in February 2000, this time at the Araneta Coliseum, where she performed alongside Kenny Rankin, Rex Smith, and Christopher Cross.

In 2006, she released “Live From Manila,” her first live concert recording after suffering a stroke on January 10, 2006. Angela Bofill’s legacy continues through her music and the lasting impact she had on her fans worldwide.
