Vhong Navarro Expresses Gratitude to his Lawyers
Vhong Navarro visibly spent a good meal with his legal team and expressed his gratitude to his lawyers following the victory of the case against model Deniece Cornejo.
The ordeal that Vhong went through in the past years was not a secret to the public considering that he is one of the most popular celebrities in the Philippines — although with regards to the extent, only him can actually say it. It took years and he was even detained for a few months in 2022.
Vhong Navarro and model Deniece Cornejo’s legal battle stemmed from an incident in 2014 at her condominium unit. They had opposite claims with the Showtime host standing by his not guilty plea over the accusations that he did something against the model and businessman Cedric Lee and two (2) others just came to the rescue.
The legal fight that involved three (3) known personalities in the country went on for years and, in September 2022, a warrant of arrest was released against Vhong. He voluntarily surrendered to the authorities of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The camp of the Showtime host appealed for bail and it was granted on December 22, 2022 through a decision penned by Presiding Judge Loralie Cruz Datahan. He posted a bail of Php 1 million for his temporary liberty.
In February 2023, the Supreme Court dismissed the case against Vhong Navarro. Recently, a promulgation on the case against Deniece Cornejo, Cedric Lee, and two (2) others were held. They were found guilty by the Court for illegal detention for ransom.
Cornejo, Lee, and two (2) others found guilty by the Court were sentenced to a life imprisonment. Following the verdict, Deniece was transferred to Taguig Police while Cedric surrendered to the authorities. Deniece’s father Dennis Cornejo believes they are a victim of “trial by publicity” citing that they are simple individuals.
From the dismissal of the case against him to the conviction of Cornejo and Lee, it is truly a victory for the camp of Vhong Navarro following a legal battle that went on for several years. Recently, the Showtime host celebrated the events in favor of their camp over a good meal with his legal team.
On Instagram, Vhong also expressed his gratitude to his lawyers who stood by him all throughout the legal fight over the 2014 controversial incident.
“Maraming salamat po sa inyong pagsama sa akin hanggang sa dulo,” Vhong stated in his post.
