Isko Moreno’s Son Wants To Play as April Boy Regino in Late Musicians Story
ISKO MORENO’S SON – Joaquin Domagoso, the actor son of former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, auditioned for the biopic of the late musician April Boy Regino.
One of the most popular singers in the Philippine music industry is the late April Boy Regino or Dennis Magloyuan Regino in real-life. He is also a songwriter and an actor who has done some acting projects. He is most popular for his songs Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin, Paano ang Puso Ko, and Umiiyak ang Puso Ko’t Sumisigaw.
April Boy was born in a slum near the railway track in Caloocan. He was the fourth among the eight children of his parents and he used to sell banana cue, rice cakes, and camote cue to help his parents. In November 2020, April Boy Regino died after he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and acute respiratory failure.
Waterplus Productions, the same production that released the 2015 film Wag D’yan, Wag D’yan… May Kiliti Ako D’yan is set to make a biopic of April Boy Regino. They recently had an audition for the role. Based on a report on Pep, one of those who went to the audition was Joaquin Domagoso, former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s son.
Joaquin Domagoso is an actor under the GMA-7 network. He was part of several hit projects including the hit Kapuso TV series My First Yaya. Based on the article, he came to the office of Waterplus for the audtions hopeful that he will be chosen to play as April Boy Regino in his biopic.
According to Isko Moreno’s son, he knows April Boy Regino but he has not sang his songs. Meanwhile, he stressed that the songs of the late singer are popular and he knows them although he did not get to hear it most of the time.
“Pero alam ko yung story niya, at yung mga kanta niya sa karaoke na April Boy lagi ang kinakanta,” the young actor said.
Based on the article, Joaquin Domagoso was also asked about the political plans of his father, former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. However, according to the young actor, his father has not spoken to them about it and he would just smile everytime he would ask him.
“Pag tinatanong ko si Papa, tawa lang din siya, e. Hindi siya sumasagot,” the young actor said.
Joaquin shared that many of his friends also ask the same question. Meanwhile, he assured that his support for his father will always be there. He also stressed that the people of Manila whom his father loves are also ready to support the former Mayor in case he will run for an elective post.
