Joaquin Domagoso: “I don’t know if I gonna run. Pero the door is not closed.”
JOAQUIN DOMAGOSO – The Sparkle artist is rumored to have plans to enter the world of politics like his father, former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Joaquin Andre Ditan Domagoso, an actor, model, and host, commonly known by the initials JD, has been active in the entertainment industry since 2019 under the management of Sparkle GMA Artist Center.
Joaquin is the son of former Manila Mayor and actor-turned-politician Isko Moreno, and Diana Lynn Ditan. He grew up as one of five children in a well-known family. His entry into show business was marked by his contract with GMA Artist Center in 2019, leading to his initial appearances on the variety show Studio 7 and later becoming a regular on All-Out Sundays starting in 2020.
His career took a significant turn when he starred alongside Cassy Legaspi in the romantic comedy series “First Yaya” in 2021, which was followed by a sequel titled “First Lady.” Off-screen, Joaquin has made headlines for his personal life. In 2022, he and his girlfriend, social media personality Raffa Castro, daughter of actor Diego Castro, welcomed their son Scott Angelo. The name Scott Angelo pays homage to Joaquin’s father’s childhood nickname and Raffa’s late grandfather, Angelo Castro Jr.
In the latest episode of showbiz insider Ogie Diaz’s vlog on Friday, April 26, Joaquin addressed the question of whether he has plans to enter politics. According to him, “I don’t know if I gonna run. Pero the door is not closed. Ang important sa akin is kailangan kong patunayan na kung tatakbo man ako, hindi ako bobong tao.” He added, “Because I don’t want to run and win, and just win.”
Meanwhile, Joaquin was also asked about his father’s potential return to politics, especially since he mentioned that people still approach Isko even though he no longer holds a government position. “Kung ikaw ang hihingan ng suggestion ng daddy mo: ‘Joaquin, kailangan ba akong tumakbo ulit?” Ogie asked. “Oo, Papa. Go!” Joaquin quickly answered.
However, currently, according to Joaquin, his father does not want to run for office again after his presidential bid in the 2022 election.
