Most of the government social insurance institutions in the Philippines offer a set of loans that usually include a Multi-Purpose Loan. One of these loan-providing entities is the Government Service Insurance System or more popularly called GSIS.

With regards to the Multi-Purpose Loan offer of the GSIS, it aims provide qualified members with an additional credit line to also help them consolidate and deal with their unpaid loans — except for the housing loan. The qualified member-borrower may borrow up to 14 times his/her basic monthly salary under the offer.

Who are qualified to apply for the Multi-Purpose Loan offer? The GSIS MPL requirements includes both the eligibility criteria for application and the short list of documentary requirements for application. To qualify, here are the eligibility requirements that the member-borrower should meet:

  • not on leave of absence without pay at the time of application
  • agency status is not “Suspended”
  • has posted at least three (3) monthly premium contributions for both Personal Share and Government Share at the time of application
  • resulting net take-home pay after loan availment is not lower than the amount required under the General Appropriations Act, after all required monthly obligations have been deducted
  • no pending administrative case and/or criminal case
  • no arrearages in the GSIS Financial Assistance Loan (GFAL) and/or Housing Loan

With regards to the documentary requirements for the GSIS MPL application, the state-run social insurance institution only requires the following:

  • duly accomplished MPL Application Form
  • photocopy of the eCard or UMID eCard

To apply for the GSIS Multi-Purpose Loan, it can be done via the eGSISMO using your BP number and PW, via email to your GSIS handling branch, or via a GWAPS Kiosk nearest to you using your eCard Plus/UMID for the application.
