FDCP chairman, veteran actor Tirso Cruz III has resigned
TIRSO CRUZ III – The award-winning actor has stepped down as chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) after leading the film council from July 2022 to March 2024.
Malacañang accepted Tirso’s resignation last week. According to sources, Rica Arevalo will serve as the officer in charge. Arevalo is the head/project development officer for the Film Education Division. She is also the OIC for the Film Festivals Division.
According to PEP.ph, award-winning director Joey Reyes is set to be appointed by Malacañang to replace Tirso for the remaining term. Joey served as a technical consultant at the FDCP during Tirso’s tenure.
Among the programs he promoted were those related to strengthening education for filmmakers, supporting existing film festivals, and assisting producers through film grants and incentives.
Currently, there is no official statement from the FDCP on this matter.
