Countless Filipinos love Beef Caldereta. Undeniably, it is a special dish as its ingredients may be pricey most especially the beef, the potatoes, and the sauce. Meanwhile, the savory dish is worth the price and it can really make your loved ones’ tummies happy.

One of the most important parts of the Beef Caldereta recipe is the list of ingredients. Here are the ingredients that you must prepare for the cooking process in making the savory dish:

  • 2 pounds beef, cubed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3-4 cups water
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2/3 cup liver spread
  • 1 cup bell pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 cup cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 3 large bay leaves
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced
  • 3 medium potatoes, sliced
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce (optional)

The other important part of the Beef Caldereta recipe is the cooking process. It may take an hour up to one (1) hour and 15 minutes. The aforementioned ingredients can serve 6 to 8 people. Here is a guide in cooking this delicious dish:

Step 1 — Add water to the pan. Add beef to make a beef broth. Add pineapple juice and onion.

Step 2 — In another pan, saute garlic until it is almost brown. Add it to the beef and broth.

Step 3 — Add the tomato sauce and tomato paste. Allow them to simmer ten (10) minutes.

Step 4 — Add bell pepper, bay leaves, potatoes, and carrots. Simmer until the carrots and potatoes are tender.

Step 5 — Add cheese and salt and pepper to taste. Add optional Tabasco sauce if you want.

Step 6 — Cook until the cheese is melted, stir. Remove the bay leaves.

Step 7 — You can add water if the mixture is thick. Remove from heat and serve with steamed rice. Enjoy your meal!
