3D Giant Maya
3D ART – Netizens were seemingly ‘awestruck’ by a photo where a man appears to be facing a gigantic pink Maya bird in an alley.
Upon closer inspection, it seems like the man is talking to, pampering, and feeding the colossal Maya bird, which doesn’t seem elusive to him and even engages in eye contact.
However, it’s not actually a gigantic Maya bird; it’s a 3D artwork created by a man named James B. Ison, a 3D artist. In his post, he mentioned using chalk and charcoal for the drawing.
As expected, his post garnered various reactions and comments from netizens.
Meanwhile, Three-dimensional (3D) art encompasses various creative expressions that go beyond traditional two-dimensional artwork. It involves the creation of pieces that give the illusion of depth and volume, adding an extra dimension to the viewer’s experience.
One common form is traditional sculpture, where artists shape materials like clay, stone, or metal into physical, three-dimensional forms. In the digital realm, 3D art takes the form of Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI), produced using software that enables artists to craft virtual objects and scenes. Modern technology has also introduced 3D printing, allowing artists to bring digital models into the physical world by layering materials.
Additionally, artists may employ unconventional mediums, such as chalk and charcoal, to create optical illusions on flat surfaces, resulting in artwork that appears three-dimensional when viewed from specific perspectives. The versatility of 3D art allows for exploration in various mediums, offering unique and immersive visual experiences for both creators and viewers.
On the other hand, the Maya bird (“mayang pula” or “red maya”) was formerly recognized as the national bird of the Philippines until 1995 when the honorific was transferred to the Philippine eagle. It is sometimes also referred to as “mayang bungol” (deaf maya) or “mayang bukid” (ricefield maya).
