Survey says Rodrigo Duterte remains the top senatorial candidate
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former president continues to lead as the top senatorial candidate for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections, according to the PAHAYAG survey conducted by Publicus Asia Inc.
Based on the survey, Duterte obtained a voting predisposition of 48% and a trust rating of 59%. He was followed by ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo, who garnered a voting predisposition and trust rating of 44%.
Next in line is Dr. Willie Ong with a 43% voting predisposition and a trust rating of 50%. Reelectionist senators Bong Go, Imee Marcos, and Bato dela Rosa also obtained voting predispositions of 40%, 38%, and 36%, respectively.
Also included in the survey were former Senate President Tito Sotto (33%), former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso (31%), former Senator Ping Lacson (31%), former Vice President Leni Robredo (27%), Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro (26%), and Senator Pia Cayetano (25%).
The survey was conducted from November 29 to December 4, 2023, with 1,500 respondents. The 2025 elections are scheduled to take place on May 12, 2025. The polls will elect a new set of senators (12) and local officials.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo Duterte is a politician who served as the President of the Philippines from June 30, 2016, to June 30, 2022. Before his presidency, Duterte served as the Mayor of Davao City for over 22 years, in multiple non-consecutive terms. His leadership in Davao City gained attention due to his tough stance on crime and his efforts to implement law and order. During his presidential campaign in 2016, he promised to continue these policies on a national scale.
As president, Duterte’s administration was marked by a controversial anti-drug campaign, which drew both domestic and international criticism for alleged human rights abuses. His presidency was also characterized by a focus on infrastructure development and efforts to reduce corruption.
