Enchong Dee On Cedrick Juan’s MMFF Win: “Well-deserved”
ENCHONG DEE – Here’s what the actor said after Cedrick Juan won Best Actor at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 Gabi ng Parangal.
The actor posted a photo on his Instagram Stories where Cedrick can be seen receiving the trophy and giving a speech at the MMFF 2023 awards night. In the caption, he said that he was “manifesting” for Cedrick’s win “the whole day” and he’s “well-deserved” to receive the award.
Cedrick then shared Enchong’s Instagram Stories post and told Enchong that he dedicated his win to him, his “GomBurZa” co-stars, and people behind making the film.
The word “manifesting” or “manifest” refers to making something happen by consciously thinking that something will happen.
On the sidelines of the MMFF awards night, Enchong admitted in an interview with entertainment journalist MJ Marfori that he had rooted for Cedrick’s win even before the culminating event of the festival.
“Kausap ko siya kanina bago [magsimula ‘yung Gabi ng Parangal], sabi ko, alam kong ikaw ang mananalo. Inabangan ko na,” the actor said, referring to Cedrick.
“GomBurZa” won 2nd Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound, Best Actor award for Cedrick Juan, Best Director award for Pepe Diokno, and the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award at the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal.
Meanwhile, Vilma Santos won Best Actress as “When I Met You In Tokyo” won 4th Best Picture, Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award for Excellence, and Best Float at the MMFF 2023 awards night.

In her speech, Vilma said that they weren’t gunning for the acting awards when they made the film. She also said that their advocacy is for the MMFF to be successful and to bring people back to the movies at the same time.
