Father and Sons’ Four-Hour Bike Journey for Charity Help Ends in Disappointment
FOUR-HOUR BIKE JOURNEY – A father and his sons traveled for over four hours on a bicycle to seek help from a charity, only to find out that they couldn’t avail of any assistance.
On Facebook, First Bike Ride shared his encounter with Romy and his two sons, Jesrome (4) and Joshua (2). The father was spotted pushing his bicycle as he crossed the steep Mabini bridge in Manila together with his children.
Romy told the netizen that they were heading to Parañaque, which is more than 20 kilometers away from their present location at the time. “Pumunta kami dito kasi nabalitaan namin na nagbibigay sila ng tulong,” he revealed. “Pero hindi kami tinanggap kasi hindi kami umabot. Ilan lang ‘yung kaya matulungan ngayong araw.”
Accordingly, they visited a charitable institution in Manila, biking all the way from their home in Parañaque. The father began cycling at 6 am that day, with his two sons sitting on a makeshift chair on the top tube. However, upon reaching their destination at 10:30 am, they were disappointed to be declined assistance.
Romy works as a welder while his wife washes clothes. They have three children, and the eldest was at school that day. According to Romy, jobs are so scarce lately, especially at the moment, and the mother of his sons is the only one earning at the moment.
First Bike Ride parted ways with Romy and his kids, and as Romy got off his bicycle to carefully push his beloved ride — with the kids comfortably sitting on their chair — while going downhill, First Bike Ride gave them small assistance.
Meanwhile, the post has generated mixed reactions from the netizens. One social media user wrote: “They seem to be a happy family sahot lang sa material at financial. Another source of income at fixed income sana for them. Para they will all continue to live na masaya at may enough provisions. Thanks to First Bike Ride initiating this way to help them. Pagpalain tayong lahat ng Dios for spreading love.”
