Here’s an update on the donation drive for Pura Luka Vega
PURA LUKA VEGA – Donations amounting to P892,975.60 have been gathered by supporters of the drag artist as of 10 pm on Monday, October 9, to address living and legal expenses.
The drag artist, who goes by the real name Amadeus Fernando Pagente, gained significant attention due to his “Ama Namin” performance. In this act, they portrayed Jesus Christ while singing and dancing to a remix of the Filipino version of “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Consequently, he faced severe criticism and was declared persona non grata in various locations across the country, including Manila, Marikina City, Marinduque, Batangas City, Bohol, Talisay, Mandaue City, Cebu City in Cebu, as well as Lucena City in Quezon Province, Occidental Mindoro, Dinagat Islands, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Cagayan de Oro City, Bukidnon, General Santos City in South Cotabato, Floridablanca in Pampanga, Toboso in Negros Occidental, and Oriental Mindoro.
On Wednesday, October 4, Pura was arrested at his residence in Sta. Cruz, Manila, in connection with their controversial “Ama Namin” performance.
In response, fellow drag queens of Pura promptly initiated a donation campaign to assist in posting bail and covering other expenses related to their case. Rod Singh, the showrunner of Drag Den Philippines, provided an update on the donation drive, reporting that as of 10 pm on Monday, October 9, they had received donations totaling P892,975.60 to address living and legal costs.
Meanwhile, Luka was granted bail on October 7 and subsequently took part in a fundraising event the following day, during which they performed “The Prayer” alongside their mother. While Pura Luka Vega is in detention, he earned support from celebrities including Ice Seguerra and Janella Salvador.
