MARINA BENIPAYO – The actress and former beauty queen has expressed her dismay over the criticisms and insults directed at her partner, Ricardo Cepeda. This comes in the wake of Cepeda’s arrest and detention at Camp Karingal, Quezon City on Saturday, October 7, on charges of syndicated estafa.

Marina has decided to speak up because she has come across numerous false claims and fake news circulating on social media about Ricardo. She has also supported her son, Joshua de Sequera, who is Ricardo’s stepson, in asserting that Ricardo was “wrongfully accused.” According to Joshua, Ricardo was only a brand ambassador for the sales company in question and had no involvement in the alleged “investment scheme” that led to the charges.

In a Facebook post, Joshua clarified, “The company offered an investment scheme (which he had no knowledge nor participation of) which paid people a big % profit monthly. Guaranteed with advanced payouts in monthly postdated checks. Eventually the checks started bouncing so the investors filed estafa cases against everyone who they thought was part of the company. Including Ricardo -who was just the celebrity model.”

Joshua also urged those commenting on the issue to refrain from making hateful remarks if they are unaware of the full details.

Marina defended Ricardo in a TikTok video, emphasizing that Ricardo had no involvement in the investment discussions. She explained that they did not even invest in the scheme and that Ricardo was not a signatory in the company. She further praised Ricardo’s kindness and willingness to help others and expressed her shock at the situation.

Marina also called out content creators who spread inaccurate details about Ricardo’s case, urging them to be responsible with their commentary and to use their social media platforms for support and prayer. She clarified that their lifestyle was not extravagant, emphasizing their simplicity and humility.
