Rendon Labador reacts to suspension of It’s Showtime
RENDON LABADOR – The motivational speaker took to social media to congratulate the noontime program “It’s Showtime” after it received a 12-day suspension from the MTRCB.
On Monday, September 4th, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) announced its decision to temporarily halt the live noontime show “It’s Showtime!” for a period of 12 broadcast days. This action comes in response to numerous viewer complaints lodged with the MTRCB regarding the program’s episode from July 25, 2023.
During this episode, there were allegations that the show’s hosts engaged in inappropriate behavior during one of its segments, specifically “Isip Bata.” The case was referred to the MTRCB’s Hearing and Adjudication Committee, which conducted hearings and requested position papers from the involved parties as part of the standard procedure.
According to the MTRCB Charter under Presidential Decree (P.D.) No. 1986, the respondents have the option to submit one Motion for Reconsideration (MR) within 15 days from the date they receive the decision. If the Board’s decision remains unfavorable after the MR, the respondents can further appeal to the Office of the President within 15 days of receiving the MR decision.
This isn’t the first time that “It’s Showtime!” has faced a preventive suspension order. In 2010, the MTRCB imposed a 20-day preventive suspension on the daily variety show, then known as “Showtime.” In 2023 alone, the MTRCB has received multiple complaints related to the show, all of which have been addressed, as stated in an official release by the MTRCB on Monday.
While “It’s Showtime” fans were saddened by the MTRCB’s decision, motivational speaker Rendon Labador couldn’t hide his happiness following the show’s suspension. He was among those who criticized the hosts, real-life couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez, at the height of their issue.
