Kim Atienza addresses comments about him being “dead”
KIM ATIENZA – The television host has responded to comments he received after posting a black and white photo with the late Mike Enriquez.
In the midst of sadness and mourning, Filipinos still couldn’t resist being playful. Kim Atienza proved this himself when he reposted his old profile picture from his first appearance on GMA Integrated News’ 24 Oras after leaving TV Patrol.
He re-uploaded the picture of himself and Mike in a split-screen, holding a small crocodile, as his profile picture on August 30, 2023. What’s noticeable is that he made it black and white. Kim’s caption read, “My first day in 24 Oras 2 years ago. It was Booma who welcomed me. I’ll never forget.” Mike Enriquez is referred to as “Booma” by his colleagues.
However, netizens quickly added humor to it. Some joked that the TV host had also passed away. Some were in tears and said “Rest In Peace” to Mike and Kim. Kim noticed that his post had become the center of netizens’ jokes, so he posted colored profile pictures again, still with Mike. Kim clarified, “Di po ako namatay.”
Many netizens were delighted with what they saw as Kim’s “resurrection.” So, they welcomed the TV host back from his “momentary death.” Meanwhile, Mike was laid to rest on September 3, 2023. He passed away in the ICU of St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City on August 29, 2023, at the age of 71.
Miguel Castro “Mike” Enriquez’s career in the entertainment industry began when he became a radio broadcaster in 1969. In 1995, he became a TV anchor for GMA Network, Inc. He also served as the Consultant for radio operations at GMA Network, the president of the network’s regional and radio subsidiary RGMA Network Inc., and the Station Manager of Super Radyo DZBB 594 AM.
