COLEGIO DE STA. RITA – Several images taken during the fire incident that engulfed the school in San Carlos City, which some netizens find “creepy,” have gone viral, eliciting mixed reactions from online users.

Colegio de Sta. Rita, a private school located in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, was struck by a fire on the evening of Monday, August 14, 2023.

San Carlos City Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Rufino Tañedo revealed that the estimated damage after the recently renovated old building has been consumed is around 15 million pesos. The fire started at around 7:00 PM.

During the incident, the fire was initially declared at alarm level 2 at around 8:00 PM. It was then elevated to alarm level 3 at 8:15 PM. By 9:11 PM, Tañedo confirmed that the situation was “Under Control,” and the fireout was declared at around 12:11 AM.

The efforts to control the fire were supported by BFP San Carlos, the Filipino Chinese Chamber, BFP Toboso, BFP Calatrava, BFP Escalante, BFP Vallehermoso, BFP Don Salvador Benedicto, and others. Currently, BFP San Carlos is continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, several Facebook pages have posted some “creepy” snapshots from the fire incident that engulfed the school. Colegio de Sta. Rita has been in operation since the 1930s and it is managed by Augustinian Recollect sisters.

On Facebook, RMN DYHB Bacolod 747 shared two photos of what appears to be a head-like figure and a hand-like figure. The caption noted, “Nakita mo? Kamot kag ulo? Kuha ini sang pila ka mga netizens sang nasunog ang main building sang Colegio de Sta. Rita sang San Carlos City kagab-i, Agosto 14.”

In another post, Exodus Photography also shared the “creepy” photos but clarified that the shadowy human-like figure (another snap) is actually a statue.
