A lot of Filipinos are working abroad. Most of these Filipinos abroad usually send money to their families back in the Philippines.
In sending money to a person in the Philippines, one of the requirements is the bank swift code. Also called the Business Identifier Code or BIC, it is a unique code that is usually used in international money transfers helps achieve the fast crediting of the remittance to another bank in the Philippines.
The Swift Code is also called the SWIFT-BIC or the BIC-Code. It is usually made of eight to eleven characters that observe a uniform format. The bank code which is composed of four digits, the country code which is composed of two digits, the 2-digit location code, and the branch code which are three digits. The branch code is optional.
If you entered the wrong code or your family in the Philippines sent you the wrong code, the money transfer will not take place. Thus, it is important to make sure that the bank swift code is correct so the recipient in the Philippines can right away claim the money. The bank transfer fees locally and internationally are different.
