Lady TikToker Flexes Photo of Philippine Eagle on P1000 Bill Exists
PH NATIONAL BIRD – A lady TikToker proves that the Philippine Eagle shown on the P1000 bill really exists.
TikToker Lohwana Halaq, an animal keeper at the Philippine Eagle Foundation in Davao City, has captivated social media fans with an intriguing video. The video has selfies with Sinag, the Philippine Eagle Center’s youngest eagle.
Although the Philippine eagle is proudly shown in the country’s largest denomination currency, many Filipinos are unaware of its existence or appearance.
Sinag, the Philippine Eagle Center’s youngest resident, is important to the continued conservation efforts of this critically endangered species. The Philippine eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi), as one of the world’s largest and most powerful eagles, has a strong presence in the country’s culture, media, and government.
Despite its high popularity, Halaq’s TikTok video shows that awareness of this national treasure is not as broad as one might think.
“From my experience working with these beautiful animals I can truthfully say that it shocks me much our own Filipino citizens do not know this eagle exists or what it even looks like. Despite its high-profile status in media, culture and government,” Halaq wrote.

The Philippine eagle, sometimes known as the monkey-eating eagle, is endemic to the Philippines and is a symbol of national pride and conservation. It is an awe-inspiring sight to behold, with its unique appearance of distinguishing white and dark-brown plumage and a vast wingspan.
The objective is that through raising awareness about the existence and condition of the Philippine eagle, more Filipinos would be inspired to support conservation efforts and take pride in the great biodiversity that distinguishes the Philippines.
