Miel Pangilinan: “As long as you are happy and keeping other people around you safe, you are valid and you are loved.”
MIEL PANGILINAN – In time for Pride Month this year, the daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and former senator Kiko Pangilinan shared an empowering message for the LGBTQIA+ community.
It was last 2022 when Miel bravely came out as queer. She appeared on the cover of one of the country’s top fashion magazines on that same year.
Miel recently posted on her Instagram account a series of photos of herself with Pride flags in the background along with an empowering message for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Miel said in the caption of her post that she’s celebrating “queerness, identity, sexuality, love, and people” this month.
She went on to tell her social media followers that although Pride is a time for togetherness, celebration, and happiness, people must also remember that there’s still so much they’re fighting for as a community — marriage, rights to safety, and many more.

According to Miel, now is the month to show who they are, to show that they exist, and to show that nobody will silence them or make them feel ashamed in themselves for being who they are.
“I am here. I exist. I have been here. I have existed. I am a queer Filipino who is proud to be a member of this beautiful, long-standing community,” Miel said in the caption of her social media post.
In a message to the LGBTQIA+ community, Miel told them to have a “safe, happy, and napaka-bonggang-bonggang Pride month”. She ended her social media post by saying, “Mabuhay mga bakla!”
