Here’s why GMA Network has no say in the issue between Eat Bulaga and TAPE Inc
ANNETTE GOZON-VALDES – The GMA Senior Vice President explained why the network has no say in the issue between Eat Bulaga and TAPE Inc.
Gozon-Valdes stated that if GMA had the power to influence the outcome, they would have done everything possible to retain the hosts. However, GMA had to remain hands-off due to the nature of the issue.
She further explained that GMA’s contract with TAPE, Inc., does not necessarily reflect with TVJ or the individual hosts. The contract between GMA and TAPE, Inc. was a blocktime agreement, which meant that TAPE, Inc. rented a time slot from GMA and paid for the right to broadcast their content during that period. GMA had no control over the specific content or personnel involved in the show.
The contract allowed TAPE, Inc. to make changes to the hosts or reformat the show without GMA’s interference. This provision was negotiated by Mr. Antonio Tuviera, and GMA was obligated to honor the contract as long as its provisions were not breached.
As a result of the hosts’ departure, speculation has risen regarding the future of Eat Bulaga on GMA Network. It is rumored that the show will continue with a new set of hosts.
Meanwhile, the public is eagerly anticipating the announcement regarding who will be among the new hosts of Eat Bulaga, as well as on which network TVJ and the other EB Dabarkads will appear.
