Teacher Georcelle airs side on their “absence” in the 20th-anniversary concert of Sarah Geronimo
TEACHER GEORCELLE AND SARAH GERONIMO – Ogie Diaz sought a statement from Georcelle Dapat-Sy, the artistic director of G-Force Dance Corporation, regarding the noticeable absence of her group during the Popstar Royalty’s 20th-anniversary concert.
Numerous speculations emerged about what happened, especially since their dance steps for the song “Tala” were not used in the said concert. Allegedly, Teacher Georcelle did not allow the use of the dance steps and choreography they had created for Sarah before. There were even Twitter rumors that Boss Vic became annoyed after they asked for a high fee.
Apart from that, conflicts allegedly arose regarding the number of Sarah Geronimo’s backup dancers. Teacher Georcelle is also said to have issued a demand letter, stating a charge of Php150,000 per choreography if their work was used, particularly for “Tala.”
Ogie took the initiative to seek Teacher Georcelle’s side on the matter, and he promptly received a response. She explained that she had trained Sarah and worked with G-Force for 16 years.
She supported Sarah’s desire for artistic and personal growth, even if it meant taking a break from their collaboration. Teacher Georcelle emphasized that her decisions were made out of love and respect for Sarah as an artist and friend, allowing her to explore creative freedom and assume complete control over her 20th-anniversary concert.
Regarding the alleged demand letter, Teacher Georcelle clarified that she did not send one. While she quoted a price for the use of her copyrighted works, she regarded her absence from Sarah’s 20th anniversary as a gift of freedom, enabling Sarah to express her creative dreams fully.
Despite the situation, Sarah and Teacher Georcelle reportedly exchanged messages and greeted each other during Sarah’s 20th-anniversary celebration, emphasizing that their relationship remains unaffected by public opinion.
