Pops Fernandez: “I guess it’s safe to say 40 years since I started the concert scene.”
POPS FERNANDEZ – The Concert Queen marked her 40th year in the showbiz industry and also looked back at some of the key moments of her career.
The Concert Queen appeared on Monday’s episode of Kapamilya morning show “Magandang Buhay” where she shared how her career started.
Pops shared that she started entering the singing industry as a recording artist of OctoArts when she was at the age of 13 or 14.
She also said that she forgot what year she started, but it’s safe for her to say that she’s on her 40th year in the showbiz industry since she started the concert scene.
“I think honestly ha, over 40 years [na]. Hindi ko po talaga matandaan kung anong year ba talaga ako nag-umpisa,” she said. “But I guess it’s safe to say 40 years since I started the concert scene.“
According to her, she was 16 years old when she made “Penthouse” which seemed to have marked the start of her career in the showbiz industry.
The Concert Queen became emotional after watching the video messages that came from Jaya, Joy Ortega, Ram Nievera, Kuh Ledesma, and Martin Nievera for her 40th anniversary in the showbiz industry.

Pops then admitted she didn’t expect to celebrate it in “Magandang Buhay”. She added that she hopes to celebrate her anniversary in the industry through a concert.
“Alam niyo po nahiya kasi ako mag-celebrate… Medyo nawalan po ako ng confidence kasi medyo matagal na akong hindi nagko-concert,” she said. “I am trying to gain my confidence back. But thank you sa inyong lahat po for the 40 years, actually for the 40 plus years.“
