Manny Pacquiao extends full support to the boxer who is in a coma
MANNY PACQUIAO – The eight-division boxing world champion made a commitment to cover the medical expenses of a 22-year-old boxer who slipped into a coma after a match in Cavite on May 6. Kenneth Egano, a bantamweight boxer from Sarangani province, collapsed after completing an eight-round bout against Jason Facularin.
Egano was immediately rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, he remained unconscious, and the doctors confirmed that he had fallen into a coma. The boxer’s family was deeply saddened by the situation, especially considering the severity of Egano’s condition and their own financial constraints in meeting the medical expenses.
According to the doctors, an emergency operation was necessary to address a clot in Egano’s right brain. Thankfully, Manny Pacquiao, who hails from the same town as Egano, decided to step in and support his fellow boxer by taking care of the incurred medical costs. Pacquiao emphasized the value of human life and expressed his belief that it is of utmost importance to assist those in need.
Furthermore, Pacquiao took the opportunity to highlight the dangers inherent in boxing and the sacrifices made by boxers who put their lives on the line in every match. He underscored the need for respect towards boxers and their commitment to the sport, stating that boxing should not be treated as a game like other sports.
In the midst of this situation, Jason Facularin, Egano’s opponent in the ill-fated match, expressed his support and called for prayers for Egano’s safety during the upcoming operation and his subsequent recovery.
