Google: “December 1, 2023 is the earliest a Google Account will be deleted due to this policy.”
GOOGLE – The tech company has announced that it will delete inactive Google accounts and their associated contents.
The company stated that an “inactive account” is an account that has not been used with a two-year period.
According to the company, December 1, 2023 is the earliest a Google Account will be deleted because of the Inactive Google Account Policy.
The company stated in its policy that the company reserves the right to delete an inactive account and its activity and data if a user is inactive across Google for at least 2 years.
In addition, the company reserves the right to delete data in a product if a user is inactive in that product for at least two years. The “product” refers to a Google product such as Search, Gmail, Chrome, Maps, YouTube, Photos, Pixel, Assistant, Android OS, Pay, Meet, Nest, and Google One.
The company stated that the user’s inactive account and all of its content and data may be deleted when the said account has not been used within a 2-year period.

Also, the company said that it will give users an opportunity to take an action in their inactive accounts by sending email notifications to their account email and recovery email (if provided) before their inactive accounts are deleted.
There are exceptions to the said policy. According to the company, an account is considered “active” even if it has not been used within a two-year period if one or more of these applies:
- used to make a purchase of a product, an app, a service, or a subscription that is current or ongoing.
- contains a gift card with a monetary balance.
- owns a published application or game with ongoing, active subscriptions or active financial transactions associated with them
- manages an active minor account with Family Link.
- used to purchase a digital item
Yugatech reported that the Inactive Google Account Policy applies “solely to personal Google Accounts and its contents” and the said policy will not affect accounts created for businesses or schools.
