Mark Sheehan, the guitarist of The Script has passed away
THE SCRIPT – The Irish rock band is mourning the loss of its co-founder and guitarist, Mark Sheehan, who passed away at the age of 46 on Friday after a brief illness.
Sheehan, along with vocalist Danny O’Donoghue and drummer Glen Power, formed the band in 2001. The news of Sheehan’s death was announced by the band on their social media pages, describing him as a “much loved husband, father, brother, band mate, and friend” and asking fans to respect the privacy of his family and bandmates during this difficult time.
Sheehan was widely recognized and respected in the entertainment industry, with fellow musicians and friends paying tribute to his talent and character. Irish presenter Laura Whitmore expressed her condolences on Instagram, describing Sheehan as one of the nicest and most talented men one could meet. Irish pop duo Jedward also honored Sheehan, calling him a talented musician and highlighting The Script as one of the most iconic Irish groups of their generation. Kodaline, another Irish rock band, posted on Twitter expressing their sorrow at Sheehan’s passing.
Even Ireland’s president, Michael D Higgins, acknowledged Sheehan’s remarkable achievements in the music industry. He described Sheehan as an “outstanding” example of Irish musical success on the world stage, noting The Script’s impressive record of six number one albums in the UK and a number three album in the United States.
The Script is behind the hit songs such as; Hall of Fame, For the First Time, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, Nothing, Superheroes, Breakeven, If You Could See Me Now, Rain, The Last Time, We Cry, Six Degrees of Separation, Talk You Down, Science & Faith and to name a few.
