Struggling young couple and their baby finds shelter on EDSA under mosquito net
MOSQUITO NET – A young couple who seek refuge under a “kulambo” along EDSA has touched the hearts of netizens.
Jeremy and Grace, a young couple aged 20 and 18 respectively, are facing a challenging situation as they try to provide for their baby while being homeless. Their story came to light through a Facebook page called “Son Share the Love,” which aims to raise awareness about individuals in need.
Currently, Jeremy, Grace, and their baby are living on the streets of Edsa, a busy thoroughfare in the Philippines. They sleep under a mosquito net, but even with the cover, mosquitoes manage to bite their baby, leaving visible marks on the infant’s delicate skin. The area where they stay is also dusty, posing further health risks for their baby.
Jeremy and Grace survive by begging for money, and Jeremy also earns a small amount by selling water in plastic bottles. However, these meager earnings are barely enough to provide for their basic needs.
Their difficult situation began when Grace was kicked out of her home after she became pregnant at an early age, and Jeremy lost their home after it was mortgaged. Despite their young age, they are now faced with the daunting responsibility of caring for their baby without a stable roof over their heads.
Here’s the post:
“Malamok lang dito sa edsa kahit nakakulambo baby ko kinakagat pa rin wala kasi kaming ibang matutulugan nanghihingi lang ako ng barya barya.”
Their story has gone viral with more than 6 million views as of posting. It also generated mixed reactions from the netizens. Here are some of the comments:
