GLADYS REYES – The actress recently spoke about winning Best Actress during the awards night for the 1st Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this year.

The actress has been named Best Actress for role in “Apag”. She posted a series of photos with her husband Christopher Roxas on her Instagram account and said that she gave her trophy to him.

According to a report on PUSH, Gladys shared her thoughts about being named Best Actress during that time at an interview after the awards night.

The actress shared that she didn’t expect it because she’s so happy to have been nominated in the awards night, adding that she was surprised when her name was announced as the Best Actress winner during the event.

Lagi nating naririnig na hindi ini-expect pero hindi ko talaga ini-expect kasi natuwa na ako na na-nominate. Kaya nung tinawag yung pangalan ko, talagang kita naman nila yung reaction ko,” she said. “Kaya sobrang ganong na lang, overflowing happiness.

She also said that the “most haggard set” she has ever been in a movie is Summer MMFF movie “Apag” directed by Brillante Mendoza’.

According to the actress, her father is her inspiration for the movie if he’s alive because the ICU scene in the film is really “fresh na fresh” that she actually went through it in real life.

Aside from this, she also spoke about being one of the stars in “Here Comes The Groom”. The actress admitted that executing director Chris Martinez’s script was a different kind of acting challenge for her.

During the awards night for the 1st Summer MMFF, the actress reiterated how crucial it is for the local industry to have venues like the MMFF to put a spotlight and to also showcase Pinoy talent and stories on-screen.
