Shaira Luna: “I always had it in my head that I could do things na hindi kayang gawin ng other kids at my age”
SHAIRA LUNA – The photographer and content creator recently spoke about growing up as a gifted child.
Shaira is a lifestyle photographer who is also known for her unique looks with pieces she gets from “ukay-ukay” or thrift shops. She got married to her partner Cocoy Aranas in a wedding ceremony last August 2022.
But before she became a photographer, she shared that she was a child genius with a career set in medicine.
Shaira opened up about growing up as a gifted child in an interview on “Share Ko Lang”. According to her, she was raised in an environment wherein every second must be about learning in order to maximize her gifts.
“Laging academics ang main focus back in that day for me,” Shaira said in an interview. “Kailangan 99 out of 100 ‘yung pinakamababang score.“
She also shared that she didn’t understand the words “stress” or “pressure” at that age. But despite that, the content creator said she’s very fortunate to have support from her parents.

Shaira added that people around her expected her to become a doctor when she turned 19 years old, but she eventually found her own path.
“I guess woke up like, wait a minute, what did I get into? Parang I know I’ve been waiting for this in my entire life but is this really I want? Because this is what everyone wants and I already did it,” she said.
According to her, she didn’t feel sad when she failed a subject in college even when people got disappointed in her. That’s when she started thinking about herself and where she was headed.
She eventually fell in love with photography and has now made a name for herself as one of the country’s top photographers.
