Kiray Celis: “Kasi umpisa pa lang hindi ko pangarap na sumikat. Gusto ko lang talaga …”
KIRAY CELIS – The actress and content creator admitted that she doesn’t dream of becoming a famous personality.
Kiray appeared in the latest episode of Paolo Contis’s online show “Just In” where she spoke about her life as an actress and as a daughter.
She shared that even when she was a child, she already had in mind to work in order to bring her father back to the Philippines. Her father was an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) before.
The actress was only 3 years old when she first appeared on television. According to her, she auditioned and became part of a former noontime show on ABS-CBN but she stopped when the nuns offered her to study in a private school.
She shared that she chose not to continue her showbiz career so she can study in a private school because she’s the only one of her siblings to study in a private school. However, she shared that Direk Bobot called her to be part in a kiddie show when she was in Grade 3.
Kiray has continued her career in showbiz again since then. She spent 19 years in her previous network and decided to transfer to GMA Network in 2018.

The actress was asked about her reason why she decided to transfer to GMA Network.
“Kasi napansin ko na parang…actually ng parents ko na wala na akong work [sa TV]. Akala ko noon busy ako dahil ang dami kong movie na ginagawa, ‘yun pala sa movie na lang ako, wala na ‘kong tv show,” she shared. “So sabi ni mama, mayroon ino-offer sa amin yung GMA na show. Sabi niya, ‘tara lipat ka na rin,“
She also admitted that she had doubts about switching networks because her previous network was her “comfort zone”. Apart from not knowing much at GMA Network before, she also thinks that she will start all over again.
The actress also said that her mother reminded her why she entered the showbiz industry – to work in order to earn money for her family.
“Kasi umpisa pa lang hindi ko pangarap na sumikat. Gusto ko lang talaga makatulong sa family ko. Gusto ko pera [kita] lang para sa pamilya ko. Kahit hindi ako bida, kahit anong role, hindi ako namimili,” she said.
