Carla Abellana: “Bottom line po is kumbaga umabot na po sa breaking point.”
CARLA ABELLANA – The Kapuso actress recently revealed the reason for her breakup with her former husband, actor Tom Rodriguez.
Carla appeared on Thursday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda”.
On Thursday, the Kapuso actress said in an interview with “King of Talk” Boy Abunda that the reason for her breakup with Tom Rodriguez was that it came to a point where she’s had enough.
“Napaka daming dahilan. But basically, bottom line po is kumbaga umabot na po sa breaking point. Sobra na po,” she told Boy Abunda. “There was still disrespect, all the lying, and all that. There was no change. Hindi po ‘yon first time na nangyari sa’min pero ito po ay taken to a different level. Extreme na po, mas malala na.”
The actress first detailed the reasons for their breakup last June 2022. Then, she said that she wasn’t being treated well in their relationship.

She also said that she’s happy that Tom chose to file for divorce in the United States. According to her, she was relieved they chose that process instead of going through an annulment in the Philippines.
It was last June 2022 when Tom said that he was already divorced from Carla, who has now filed for a petition for recognition of the foreign judgment. If approved by the court in the Philippines, her civil status will be single again.
In the same interview, the Kapuso actress told Boy Abunda that she filed the application for a protection order under the local courts and the details of the said order can’t be publicly disclosed.
The legal basis was also not provided during the interview, but her lawyer, Atty. Peter Sanchez, told Boy Abunda that it’s different from a gag order.
“It’s actually for her to invoke protection. If they are in the same building, the same locality, if she doesn’t feel threatened or in any manner uncomfortable, she can opt not to,” Atty. Sanchez said. “Once she feels, ‘I don’t like this feeling anymore,’ she can request the other party to leave in accordance with the orders of the court.“
Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez got married last October 2021 and were together for 7 years.
