QUEER PITCH MEANING – Find out what queer pitch really means. Example sentences of this idiomatic expression can also be found here.

This idiom, a British expression, first appeared in slang around the 19th century. The location where a street performer set up a shop or the location of a market vendor’s booth is referred to as the pitch in the expression.

Since the early 19th century, “to spoil” has been used as a verb to describe the act of being queer. Together, these two determine the meaning of the phrase. It was first mentioned in an 1846 speech delivered in London that was published in The Swell’s Night Guide. “Nanty coming it on a pall, or wid cracking to queer a pitch.”
