Boy Abunda was supposed to be a show commentator in Miss Universe 2022
BOY ABUNDA – The King of Talk rejected the offer to be a show commentator in Miss Universe 2022.
The coronation night of the 71st edition of Miss Universe will be held at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA this coming January 14, 2023 (January 15, 2023 in the Philippines).
According to a Cabinet Files source, MUO executives saw and liked Boy’s hosting job at an event in New York City, so they contacted the multi-awarded Filipino host in November 2022 to invite him to be a show commentator for the 71st Miss Universe.
At the time, MUO had not yet announced that Steve Harvey would no longer host the Miss Universe 2022 coronation night because the news was only confirmed on December 7, 2022.
The Miss Universe Organization is familiar with Boy’s body of work due to his excellent interviews with various personalities on his TV shows, and Miss Universe winners Pia Wurtzbach (2015) and Catriona Gray (2018).
Before they joined and won Miss Universe, Pia and Catriona were among those who Boy trained and honed in public speaking and correct way of answering the question-and-answer segment.
If Boy accepted the Miss Universe Organization’s offer, he would have been the only male among the all-female hosts that included Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, Emmy award-winning television host Jeannie Mai-Jenkins, backstage emcee Catriona and Access Hollywood correspondent Zuri Hall.
Apparently, King of Talk Boy Abunda has yet to give any statement with regard as to why he rejected the offer of MOU.
