Globe Telecom has asked NTC to observe its SIM registration portal for 72 hours
SIM REGISTRATION — Public telecommunications entity (PTE) Globe Telecom has asked the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to observe its registration portal for 72 hours in order to make sure that “all patches made are technically stable”.
[UPDATE] Globe Telecom announced on Wednesday that subscribers can register their SIM cards to its registration portal http://new.globe.com.ph/simreg.
On Tuesday, Globe said in a statement that the telco had informed the NTC about the issue on its registration portal.
Globe said that those issues prompted the telco to take proactive measures in order to make the site temporarily inaccessible. According to the telco, customer data security is paramount and “any problem detected is treated with the utmost severity”.
“In light of this development, Globe has requested the NTC for a maximum of 72 hours from today to observe our SIM registration portal to ensure all patches made are technically stable,” Globe said in a statement.
Globe also said that the telco was taking full responsibility for the actions it took, adding that the telco was also prepared to accept “any regulatory penalty if merited” in order to prioritize the protection of the data of its subscribers.
