Ting Ting Tang Tang dance video of Cebu priest and sakristans
TING TING TANG TANG – A priest and sakristans dancing to the tune of the TikTok dance craze has earned mixed reactions.
The video was taken during the Simbang Gabi at a parish church in Danao City, Cebu. In the video clip uploaded by a certain Yeng Abinales last December 19, 2022, the priest can be seen in front of the altar while the sakristans are positioned in different areas of the church, near the altar at the same time facing the congregation.
In the first part of the video, the attendees of the mass can be heard laughing and cheering for them. Apparently, the video earned mixed reactions from the netizens. Some found it funny while others were sad and mad about it.
Yeng confirmed with PEP.ph that the dance video is a form of caroling as fundraising of the church. “It was a form of fund raising through caroling to support Church’s projects and help church employees who are poor,” the uploader said.
Yeng is dismayed for what the priest and sakristans did because according to him church is designated a place of worship. He also did not agree with the “non-liturgical music” played in the church.
The post of the uploader has now reached thousands of views and reactions. It can be deduced that many were not entertained.
Meanwhile, “Ting Ting Tang Tang” is a trending TikTok dance challenge. It is a remixed version of the Vietnamese pop song “See Tinh,” which means See Love. It was performed by Vietnamese singer-actress Hoang Thuy Linh. In Vietnamese, “Tinh Tinh” means “love,” while “Tang Tang” means “love you.”
