Eugenio Romerica Abunda Jr., popularly known as Boy Abunda, is a professor, television host, publicist and talent manager.

Boy started out in show business as a stage actor and eventually as an assistant stage manager. It was during his public relations work in GMA7 when one of its executives, Bobby Barreiro, suggested that he should try hosting a television show.

Abunda started hosting through Startalk, a talk show about entertainment, and Show & Tell, a late-night variety show with Gretchen Barretto. Later, in 1999, he relocated to ABS-CBN, a rival to GMA Network, where he has since hosted the programs The Buzz, Private Conversations, Homeboy, Kontrobersyal, SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon, and the talk show interview The Bottomline with Boy Abunda.

The King of Talk has returned to his former home network earlier after signing a contract with GMA-7.

In an interview with PEP.ph, Boy Abunda admitted that he was hurt by the bashings he received during the campaign period.

“I will have to tell my story. Bugbog ako sarado. Lahat na yata ng salita, nagamit na laban sa akin. Pero ipinagtanggol din ako ng maraming tao,” he said.

Early this year, as the presidential election campaign heated up, Boy was battered and crushed by criticism. This is related to the way he allegedly interviewed the presidential candidates, specifically Leni Robredo and Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who won the election.
