Vickie Rushton: “This is waaay out of my comfort zone.”
VICKIE RUSHTON — The former beauty queen recently took to social media to share that she’s now a Philippine Navy Reservist.
To recall, the former beauty queen retired from pageantry after finishing in the Top 15 of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant last 2019.
From being crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas International last 2011 to finishing 1st runner-up in Binibining Pilipinas last 2018, she recently earned a new title after completing her training course for the Philippine Navy — HM2 Vickie Marie Milagrosa S Rushton, PN (Res).
Sharing photos on her Instagram account, Vickie described her journey as an navy reservist as “by far the highest and most meaningful achievement” of hers. According to her, taking the training course was way out of her comfort zone.

Vickie also said that she has discovered many things about herself and one of which was her strength.
“I’ve always believed that there was something bigger and greater for me. After some closed doors, I’ve been contemplating on what to do next. I think we are all seeking the same thing – our life’s purpose,” she wrote. “This is by far the highest and most meaningful achievement I received in my life.”
The former beauty queen added that she wanted to work with different organizations where she can help and serve. She went on to thank the Lord, the Naval Reserve Center, her batchmates, her family, and her husband Jason Abalos for their support.
In a message to her husband, Vickie thanked Jason for allowing her to join the training course and for supporting and encouraging her.
Vickie and Jason tied the knot in a church wedding in Batangas last September, after getting engaged last year following a 10-year relationship.
