Student graduates Cum Laude thanks to “mangangalakal” father
KATAS NG KALAKAL! – A cum laude graduate offers his achievement to his PWD father who works as a “mangangalakal.”
“Poverty is not a hindrance to success.” It is an old proverb that states that one can achieve his or her life goals regardless of whether they are poor, did not come from a wealthy family, or have a low economic status.
Indeed, poverty did not hinder a certain Ross Leo Forbes Mercurio in accomplishing one of his goals in life, to finish his studies. Mercurio graduated cum laude from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Agri-Business Management and Entrepreneur.
Recently, he went to the social networking site, Facebook wherein he shared his achievement. He offers his success to his ever-supportive father, who works as a “mangangalakal”.
In the first part of his post, he thanked his parents, particularly his father, for doing everything to provide for their family. According to him, his father endured working even on Sundays. There were times his father was caught in the rain, but he claimed, he never considered giving up.
Mercurio lauded his father for being hardworking despite his age and disability. During his last 17 years of study, he witnessed all of his father’s difficulties. Here’s the FB post of Mercurio:
Meanwhile, his post has gone viral garnering hundreds of reactions, comments, and shares. It was even featured on news websites such as Kami and Balita.
