Gerald Bantag Dares Remulla To Step Down As Justice Secretary

Gerald Bantag to DOJ Secretary Remulla: “Step down, Mr. Secretary”

GERALD BANTAG – The suspended Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief dared Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla to step down from his post.

On Friday, Bantag called on Remulla to step down as Justice Secretary for allegedly bungling the probe on the killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid.

It was the first time Bantag spoke to the public after murder complaints were filed against him and several others for the killing of Percy Lapid and an alleged middleman in the slay plot, New Bilibid Prison (NBP) inmate Cristito Villamor Palaña.

In a video posted on the YouTube channel of SMNI News, Bantag denied the accusations against him and dared Remulla to resign from his post.

Step down, Mr. Secretary, wala na kayong credibility,” Bantag said, accusing the Justice Secretary of “conditioning” the mind of the public to pin him — Bantag — to Percy Lapid’s killing.

The suspended BuCor chief also said that Remulla is using Percy Lapid’s killing in order to cover the drug-related issue hounding his son, Juanito Remulla III, who was arrested in connection with the alleged importation of illegal drugs.

As Secretary of Justice, kapag na-involve ‘yung anak mo, dapat step down ka,” Bantag said.

Bantag further accused Remulla of having political plans in 2025 and using the DOJ (Department of Justice) for exposure.

According to a report, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla was set to fly to Geneva, Switzerland on Friday to attend the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC).

Prior to this, Remulla told BuCor officials tagged in the Percy Lapid case to man up and avoid drama.

Sumagot sila ng counter-affidavit. Huwag sila sa media sasagot. Mag-counter-affidavit sila. ‘Yan ang proseso ng batas natin eh. Igalang nila ang batas,” Remulla told reporters last November 9.
