President Bongbong Marcos on Undas 2022: “As we gain momentum towards complete recovery, I pray that our efforts to remember the saints and our late loved ones will bring healing to our hearts.”
UNDAS 2022 — President Bongbong Marcos wished the Philippines a “meaningful celebration” of All Saints’ Day (November 1) and All Souls’ Day (November 2) this year.
In his message for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, the President said that those two important holidays “both remind us to strive, live Christ-centered lives, and fulfill our life’s purpose until we meet our Creator”.
He also noted how the coronavirus pandemic became an eyeopener for many Filipinos. According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic forced people to come to terms with mortality.

As the Philippines tries to recover post-pandemic, the President said that he hopes that “our efforts to remember the saints and our late loved ones will bring healing to our hearts”.
“The memories left by our dearly departed, both remind us to strive, live Christ-centered lives, and fulfill our life’s purpose until we meet our Creator,” the President said. “May it likewise reinforce the foundations of our faith and compel us to live with genuine love and compassion in all of our days.”
To recall, the President signed Proclamation No. 79 declaring October 31, 2022 as a Special Non-Working Holiday throughout the Philippines.
This will give Filipinos an opportune time to observe Undas and to spend time with their family on extended days. Also, this will encourage long “weekend” vacations which can help boost domestic tourism.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced that only those employees who would be reporting to work during the long weekend” holiday would get extra pay.
