A car turned into a mini library
READING-IN-A-CAR – A teacher filled a car with books and a teaching aid turning it into a mini library to encourage the students to read.
A library is a collection of materials, books, or media that are available for use rather than just display.
It is a physical location or virtual space that provides physical (hard copies) or digital access (soft copies) to materials.
A library’s collection may include printed materials and other physical resources in a variety of formats such as DVD, CD, and cassette, as well as access to information, music, or other content stored in bibliographic databases.
In order to make reading books fun, a teacher from Sorsogon turned a car into a mini library.
Teacher Michelle Rubio, Reading Coordinator of Schools Division Office-Sorsogon turned a car into a mini library to make learning more enjoyable.
“Kasi nakita ko na ‘yung motivation … at ‘yung interes ng mga bata lalo na sa pagbasa medyo nakukulangan tayo. Kaya nag-isip ako ng something extraordinary, parang strategy para ma-catch ko ‘yung attention nila at ma-motivate silang magbasa,” she said.
Teacher Michelle started her project in 2017.
Although she initially targeted the project at one school, she plans to bring the reading-in-a-car project to more children in their school division.
For Teacher Michelle, there is nothing else that makes her feel better than “turning on” the students’ “drive” to learn.
“Since I have that resources, I have that opportunity na makatulong sa mga batang ito, why not [grab] that opportunity? Why not give a chance to extend help,” she said.
