On Thursday, October 20, 2022, a portion of the Carlos P. Romulo Bridge (also known as the Wawa Bridge) in Bayambang, Pangasinan, collapsed, injuring four people and damaging two trucks.

Bayambang Mayor Nia Jose Quiambao said in a statement that the two trucks were crossing the bridge when it caved in around 3:30 p.m. The bridge spans the Agno River and connects the towns of Wawa and San Vicente.

The injured victims were on board the two trucks and were taken to a hospital after being pulled from the vehicles.

Some netizens believe that the incident was predicted by Rudy Baldwin.

It was on October 31, 2020, when the famous fortune teller took to the social networking site, Facebook wherein she posted her prediction for Pangasinan.

According to Rudy Baldwin, a popular bridge in Pangasinan will collapse.

“NAKIKITA KO SA VISION KO NA ISANG KILALANG TULAY SA PANGASINAN ANG MASISIRA ,ISANG BAHAGI NITO AY LULUBOG AT GUGUHO,” she said.

Baldwin mentioned that an ‘earthquake’ would be the reason for the collapse of the bridge.

However, there were no reported earthquakes in Pangasinan at the time when the Wawa Bridge, built in the early 1990s, collapsed.

The LGU of Pangasinan or the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has yet to disclose the reason why the said bridge collapsed.

Some netizens believe that the trucks passing the bridge may not be within the weight limit.

According to some people from Pangasinan, only vehicles weighing up to 20 tons can pass through Wawa Bridge.

DPWH members last inspected the bridge at the height of the earthquake in Abra last July.
